Inner Beauty

Inner Beauty

By Caitlynn Pallotta

Salty tears

as carefully

cut thighs

and arms face

him.

Claw marks,

pale old battles,

and fresh red

wars.

Knife-like

pain spikes in

his heart.

The girl

he loves

secretly suffers

alone.

Closed eyes,

soft, loving

kisses on

each battle

wound.

Loving each

war as

a piece of

her.

Strong yet

gentle arms

wrap around the

wounded,

like steel and

velvet.

Holding the beautiful

pieces together.
