John Bolling Jr. details

The only son of John and Mary Kennon Bolling, John, Jr., accumulated extensive holdings in what was then a wilderness country and was able to indulge his propensities for horses, hunting, fishing, eating and dancing. He sat on the General Assembly for nearly thirty years, was head of the Chesterfield County militia, and presided over the county courts. His first wife, Elizabeth Lewis, died soon after their marriage in 1720, and in 1728 he took Elizabeth Blair as his second wife. Elizabeth Blair was the niece of Reverend James Blair, founder and first president of The College of William & Mary.
