Desire
To have what one does not desire;
To desire what one, cannot have.
To dream of, and impossibly admire;
A gift of Eden, on another’s behalf!
To lie alone, within dreams unshared;
To feel lust pull, against gravity’s fate.
To know a rush, of two hearts paired;
Together resting, upon a gardens gate.
To know of, which makes one whole;
To believe in; faint promises of hope.
To endure time’s heavy, merciless toll;
Reaching a prize, at the end of a rope!
To desire that, which one has earned;
Is to fall short of every candle burned!
