Are We Clear

If we were clear

If we were clear would you see our soul?

Would our social media be stalked with trolls?

Would clear skin and clear hair be a reason to hate me?

Because of our differences, would they still berate me?

Would my education be relevant even though I was clear?

Would they feel less threatened having me near?

If they could see thru me, would they love my spirit?

Would they listen to me or act like they don’t want to hear it?

Would my clearness make them comfortable enough to explain?

The reason for the centuries of afflicted pain?

Well God created us exactly who we are.

With all ability to be our own shining star.

For everyone to see,

What our lives can truly be.

So what gives them the right to hate how we shine?

And be who we were created to be, from the Devine?

Would us being clear make the haters hate less?

Would the lack of pigmentation put an “S” on our chest?

Well it’s clear, we ain’t clear, and yes I said ain’t

Please don’t let this bad grammar be the reason for your complaint.

I am educated with degrees, but I’ve earned my PHD from life’s plight,

Being schooled, while being bused, to where the pigmentation was more light.

Continued education came from an HBCU,

With melanin-ated classmates keping it real and true.

Would my degree be more powerful, because I was clear?

Would I get the same promotion and raise at the end of the year?

Would there be more acceptance vs. tolerance, if my skin was clear?

Would some neighbors be more comfortable, with the clear family living near?

The reality show is the reality called life.

There are no clear people, no clear husband’s or clear wives.

No clear children, or clear single moms, no clear schools or neighborhoods.

No clear conventions to be determined if they were evil or good.

So here we all are with our different pigmentations.

Having dealt with all of the “isms” and various discriminations.

Doing the best that we can living in our various pigmented affairs.

Always striving for better, facing life’s pigmented cares.

Being proud of the lack of clearness, whatever tone, whatever shade.

Trying not to be played, dismayed, and not living afraid.

The lack of clearness will unite us now, when we need it.

We are stronger in numbers, and no ID cards will be needed.

So heads to the sky, eyes wide open, minds kept alert.

Keep thick skinned, and focused, in case they come to divert.

Divert our attention over there,

While something underhanded is keeping us from being aware

Be strong, wise, and observant, with radar up to prevent being misguided.

Always remembering that every story is never one-sided.

Stay encouraged, help others, and keep your spirit guarded well.

That’s where our real truth has decided to dwell.
