Against Gods, Kings, and Worldly Things

How, in place that’s darkness bound,

Could love of two be found,

Of gods and angels, the people sing,

Of life, death and weeping things,

Discord sung in perfect harmony,

A song of war, betwixt gods and me,

No being except for she,

Could ever bring me to the knee,

No love of god nor angel fairs,

Against the love only we could share,

My heart is hers, forever more,

And for her heart, I’ll forever war,

Against the gods, kings, and worldly things,

For how in moments time,

Could my heart forget to chime,

Past and future intertwine,

But not like that of the vine,

Like you and I are story bound,

Like two authors in same script found,

Our story now begins,

Forget the chapters of the past,

Look onward, we will win,

Fear of gods, kings, and worldly things,

Would seek to tear my heart from thee,

But in your love I am found

But like wine and honey,

I am reminded fully of she,

They preach in one that all must be done,

And in another that nothing can,

So forget the gamble of faiths unseen,

And leave the fretting to the kings,

We have found what none could dare,

For love such as ours is so rare,

No god, king or worldly thing,

Could ever know, what we share,

You are mine, and I am yours,

And for your heart I forever war,

So gods beware my faith in her,

I need you not, only her,

No law of kings, could ever halt,

That such as her, which has no fault,

No worldly thing, could ever bind,

My heart to something that walks so blind,

So here I stand at war,

For her heart and mine.
